Description:
In France, football is king. The ambitious women's team, consistently #5 in FIFA rankings, reached the 2021 Euro semi-final. Despite success no TV channel agreed to broadcast the competition, 3 weeks before the WC.
Orange is the leading telecommunications provider in France and a historical sponsor of French football. While Orange equally supports both the men's and women's national football teams, women's football still faces significant gender bias among fans.
To spark the support the team deserved, Orange needed to confront these bias. So it hacked the most viral type of sport content on social platforms to help the fan recognize their own bias and the equal value of women's football.
For once it felt so good to be fooled that the video quickly became French most popular, watched and shared content. With such a success one of the broadcasters of the competition ask for the video to be aired on live TV just before the first match.
